Monarch Fund Video
The Monarch Fund celebrated 20 years of work in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve (MBBR) in 2020. This fund is conserving the forest and supporting environmental services in the core zone of the protected area. The video is titled “Monarch Fund: 20 Years of Synergy for Conservation” and will be ready in the fall of 2023

Correo Real under their “My Municipality with the Monarch (Mayor´s Monarch Pledge), have added municipalities where monarchs rest, feed and fly during the fall migration, to participate in creating pollinator gardens and other activities.
Mural in Sierra Chincua
A mural was inaugurated at Sierra Chincua showing its biological and cultural diversity.
Field Guides for Monarch Butterfly Reserve
Field guides for the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve providing information on common species of butterflies, plants, birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles were completed. Workshops were held for local communities and tour guides to help them find the best use of these guides.
Monarch Fund Brochures
MBF funded the Monarch Butterfly Conservation Fund in their efforts to inform landowners in Mexico about the benefits provided by the Fund and those provided by the National Forest Commission.
Mural in Donaciano Ojeda Mazahua Indigenous Community
The Mazahua indigenous community of Donaciano Ojeda painted a mural showing the relationship of the community to the forest and the monarch butterfly.
Eco-tourism Workshops
During the 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016 overwintering seasons Eneida Montesinos, MBF collaborator, gave eco-tourism workshops on monarch biology and other topics to local communities.
Environmental Education and Monitoring Workshops
Geovida, a local non-profit that carries out workshops in the “Bosque Escuela” (Forest School) Educational Center located in the Emiliano Zapata Ejido in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve’s buffer zone held several environmental education workshops and monitoring activities for 60 sixth grade students.
